Hello Families,
What a busy and exciting week we have had! Though it was a short week with Monday off for Labour Day, we packed in plenty of fun, learning, and new experiences.
Our weekly yoga sessions led by Tanaya, continue to be an important part of our program. Yoga helps with mindfulness, balance, and coordination, while also introducing the children to the importance of breathwork. Through simple breathing exercises, the children learn to focus their attention, calm their minds, and regulate their emotions. This practice not only supports their physical development but also enhances their emotional well being, helping them to feel more grounded and centered throughout the day.
As always, water play was a big hit, especially with the warmer weather. The children in Kinder 3 had a fantastic time learning about rainbows with Parth, experimenting with the hose and sunlight to create their very own rainbows. It’s always so special when the children can make connections between what they learn and the world around them.
We officially started piano lessons with our talented Sally this week, and we couldn’t be more excited! Sally has been teaching the children the basics of music in such an engaging and fun way, bringing her passion and expertise to every lesson. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and the children are already showing so much excitement in learning more about music. We’re thrilled to make piano lessons a regular part of our program every week, adding to our already packed extracurricular roster.
On Thursday, we were thrilled to host Tiddalick the Frog for a drama incursion that the children absolutely loved. The event brought the classic Australian Aboriginal story to life in such a fun and engaging way. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to explore their creativity, as they not only watched but also joined in the storytelling.Â
Later on Thursday, Zac led another Judo lesson, continuing his monthly classes that give the children a chance to learn a unique and rewarding sport. Judo offers more than just physical training, it teaches discipline, respect, and perseverance. Children learn the importance of sportsmanship through the sport’s focus on etiquette, such as bowing to opponents and coaches. The children also gain self defense skills, which can increase their confidence and sense of safety.
Our gardening program continued this week, where the children got their hands dirty, pulling out weeds and harvesting tomatoes, herbs and cucumbers. It’s such a great way for them to learn about where their food comes from and understand the importance of growing their own produce.Â
To top off the week, we celebrated Holi, the Festival of Colours. The children learnt all about the significance of this special holiday, which marks the arrival of spring and is celebrated as a time of renewal, unity, and the triumph of good over evil. It was such a wonderful opportunity to teach the children about different cultures and traditions.
As part of our celebration, we held a colour run where the children had a blast running through vibrant clouds of colour. It was not only a fun activity but also a chance for the children to embrace the spirit of Holi. This activity was a beautiful reminder of the importance of play, movement, and the positive energy that brings us all together. The children truly embraced the significance of the day and had so much fun along the way!
It’s been a jam packed week, and we can’t wait for what’s next! Thank you for being part of our wonderful Choklits community.
Educator Spotlight…
This week, we wanted to take a moment to highlight the amazing work that Ruth has been doing in our Nursery. Ruth is such a beautiful asset to our team and an incredible support for Awi. Her warm smiles, stunning singing voice, and positive attitude are a constant presence, bringing so much light and joy to the Nursery every single day.
Ruth’s dedication and creativity have played a huge role in transforming our Nursery into the wonderful jungle environment that the children are loving so much. From the vibrant displays to the engaging activities, Ruth’s influence is truly felt in every corner of the room. Her passion for fostering a nurturing and stimulating space for the children is evident in everything she does.
Thank you, Ruth, for being such an integral part of our team and for all the love and care you bring to the Nursery each day. You are truly appreciated!
Reminders…
A reminder that our Kinder 4 children will be heading out for Bush Kinder this Tuesday! Please ensure your child is wearing closed toed shoes.
Next Friday, the 21st, is our highly anticipated Ride at Kinder Day! The children are encouraged to bring their bikes, scooters, or tricycles (and helmets, of course!) to enjoy a fun and exciting course we will set up for them to ride around. It’s one of our favourite days of the year, filled with plenty of outdoor fun and is a great opportunity for the children to develop their coordination and gross motor skills.
We want to take a moment to remind families that we are always accepting donations for our Community Corner. Whether it’s snacks, nappies, clothes, or any other useful items, all donations are deeply appreciated. These contributions help us support families in our Choklits community and ensure that everyone has what they need. If you have anything you’d like to donate, please feel free to drop it off at the front desk.
Additionally, we are seeking donations for our Recycled Art Materials Station. We’d love to receive items like cardboard, containers, lids from jars, and any other recyclable materials that can inspire our children’s creativity. These materials will be used for a variety of exciting art projects, helping the children to engage in hands on, imaginative activities while learning about sustainability. If you have any recyclable materials lying around that could be repurposed for art, we’d be thrilled to give them a second life in our creative space.
We’d love your help to help us improve at Choklits…Â
