Choklits Family Shepherd’s Pie
500 kg beef mince
1 chopped and diced onion
1 peeled and chopped carrot
2 celery sticks chopped (you can add any vegetables to your liking)
1 cup of gravy. (we use a gluten-free powder and make as directed).
1 kg potato (Peeled and Boiled) (substitute with sweet potato)
1/2 cup of warm milk
2 cups of grated cheese
Fry onion and beef in oil until brown in pan. Add gravy mix as directed, simmer till it thickens. In the big pot add the vegetables and mince together mix and gravy mix through and cook add foil over pot and simmer.
Peel and boil potatoes, add enough water to cover potato and cook for about 30 mins until soft. Once cooked, drain and place back into the pot, heat milk in microwave, for 30sec. Pour ½ cup of milk over potato then mash, pouring milk slowing to get a nice consistency, keep pouring until milk all gone. Hand masher is best for the right result.
Place meat mix into metal trays and cover with potato and sprinkle cheese place in oven for 20 mins-30 mins in a 200-degree pre-heated oven.
