Hello Families,
Welcome back to our weekly updates, and our very first update for 2025! This is also our first update as Service Co-Directors and we are feeling so excited about the year ahead.
It’s been a fantastic start to 2025, and we’re excited to share all the fun and learning from the week at Choklits Ringwood.
Highlights…
Nursery:Â With the recent hot weather, our babies have had lots of fun engaging in water play with rubber ducks and other water toys. This hands-on experience brought smiles and laughter while enhancing their sensory exploration and development.
Pre-Toddlers: As in the Nursery, water play was the activity of choice for our Pre-Toddlers. The children also loved ice painting. This activity involved a big block of ice and lots of colourful paints. The children unleashed their creativity as they learned about colour mixing.Â
Toddlers: Our Toddlers had a fun and creative time making some delicious mini pizzas. The children were given a variety of toppings to choose from including ham, cheese, capsicum, basil, and cherry tomatoes. Not only did this activity spark their imagination, but it also encouraged decision-making and fine motor skills as they arranged their toppings. TheToddlers then enjoyed eating their delicious creations for afternoon tea. This hands-on experience not only fostered creativity but also helped develop their understanding of food choices, healthy eating, and teamwork.
Kinder 3: Our Kinder 3 children have started their exciting inquiry project focused on numeracy! They were introduced to number matching and shapes as they were encouraged to explore and engage with these concepts in a hands-on way.Â
Kinder 4: Our Kinder 4 children have been discussing promises, what they mean and ideas towards what promises we could work towards in our room. We also created self portraits which will go around our promises chart that will be hung in the Kinder room. Â
Educator Spotlight…Â
This week, we welcomed Djyrah (affectionately known as DJ) to our awesome team. You will see DJ mainly in the Kinder and Toddler Rooms. DJ has spent her first week getting to know many of the children and families too.Â
Introducing our Birthday Mail Program…
We are thrilled to introduce our new Birthday Mail Program. Starting Monday, 17th February, every child will receive a personalised birthday card from their educators, which they can collect from our Birthday Mail Box located at the front of the service. We believe this small gesture will make their special day even more memorable, helping them feel cherished and connected within our Choklits community.
We also encourage you to involve family and friends in this celebration! You are welcome to have them send cards to our service, which your child can collect on their birthday. Alternatively, you can drop off cards at the service, and we’ll make sure to place them in the mailbox for your child to discover on their special day.
Children who have already celebrated their birthday this year will not miss out. Their birthday cards will be placed in the Birthday Mail box on Monday, 17th February.
As we settle back into the routine, our incursions and activities are also back in full swing! Here’s what we’ve planned for the week ahead:
- Monday – Dr. Chan’s Fortnightly Visit
- Tuesday – Music with Tom & Kinder 4 Library Visit
- Wednesday – Kinder 4 Responsible Pet Ownership Program
- Thursday – Messy Play with Asten
- Friday – Yoga with Elena
Be sure to check our Calendar of Events for full details of these and other upcoming excursions, incursions, and celebrations.
Reminders…
This warm weather we are experiencing provides a timely reminder for us to ask our families to please ensure your child wears sunsmart clothing and also has spare clothing packed in their bags as water play is definitely a favourite activity. Please also make sure that your child brings a named water bottle with them each day.
If any of your details have changed such as your address, contact numbers, email address or emergency contacts, please be sure to update these using KinderM8.
We’d love your help to help us improve at Choklits …Â
