Surrey Hills Update, Friday February 7th, 2025

Choklits Surrey Hills Cover Photo Updates Page

Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2025 Friday updates. We hope everybody has had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy beginning to the New Year. A new year means a new journey for Choklits Surrey Hills and the team here are full of excitement and are ready for another amazing year.

We have some exciting updates about our new regular incursions planned for the year. Tanaya from our Croydon Service will be coming to facilitate a Yoga program for all of our age groups, Asten will be coming to Surrey Hills to run messy play experiences and Michelle will be starting a wood work program for our older children that will run on a monthly schedule. We will be sending all photo content through our Kinder M8 app and sharing on our socials so please keep an eye out for some excellent experiences.

Zac will also be running a monthly Judo curriculum focusing on children’s self discipline, respect, and gross motor skills. Judo is a recognised olympic sport and martial art.

Little Sports Heroes are back in full swing with their energising new sports plans. They will still be here on Fridays, so if you would like your children to get involved and not miss this awesome program, let us know and we can book your children in for a casual day!

Each of these activities supports the development of different skills and interests, from physical coordination and creativity to language and cultural exploration. Looking forward, our weeks are packed full of enriching, fun, and engaging educational experiences that are sure to keep our little learners active and inspired!

Learning Initiative, Choklits Sustainability Development Research Goals…

Focusing on our contributions to our community and environment, we are developing a new Choklits research program. We are excited to offer you, the parents, an opportunity to get involved in how your children learn, reflect and play through this research initiative. Our team at Choklits will be focusing on some key areas of global sustainability and development to identify ways that we as a community can contribute to in order to make a difference in the world.

We will start by selecting a focus area for each month. We would like you to get involved by voting for a research goal that will be announced in our first Friday update of each month. There will be a choice of three areas to choose from. Once voting has closed we will announce the focus area for the month and begin our research and programming.

Each Room Leader will be implementing different activities, experiences and events into their programs to allow all children an opportunity to contribute to each of our focus areas.

There will be a display in our hallway that the educators and children will consistently add their contributions to throughout the month. Artwork, project work, questions and photos will be posted on this board for everyone to see the amazing contributions we will make.

We hope that everyone can get involved in this great initiative!!

To start this journey, please vote for one of the three options below. You can do this by simply emailing [email protected] with your choice. We look forward to seeing what the most popular choice is!

  1. Good health and Wellbeing
  2. Clean water and Sanitation
  3. Affordable and Clean energy

Educator Spotlight…

Educator Spotlight shines on our dedicated educator, Atena. Atena is one of our wonderful Nursery room educators. Atena has just completed and earned her Certificate III in Early childhood Education and Care. I would like to acknowledge the amazing talent and passion that Atena presents every day in her practices. We have seen her grow and develop through her time at Choklits. It has certainly been a pleasure being able to support and encourage her through her studies.

Educator Updates…

We have some new educators who joined our service over the holiday period that I know many of you have already met. Teresa has started with us in the Toddler Room. Regina has joined our Kinder 3 Team and she will be helping us while Harleen is on leave, Tracey has settled into the Nursery Room and Gold has joined the tram in our Pre-Kinder Room.

If you are yet to meet our wonderful new educators, please take some time to stop and say hi!

Reminders…

Through the warm weather, please ensure your children have weather appropriate clothing packed in their bags. Could we also ask that all children bring their drink bottles. Be mindful not to leave any children in cars unattended.

We’d love your help to help us improve at Choklits…

So, don’t forget you can send us feedback or share your ideas at any time regarding our service, practice, policies or curriculum in a couple of different ways-

  1. In person at Choklits, either verbally or in writing using the clipboards provided
  2. Via phone or email
  3. Using our National Quality Areas Feedback Form
  4. Using our Policy Feedback Form
  5. Visiting choklits.com.au/contact

Thank you for being part of our Choklits family, and here’s to a fantastic weekend ahead!
