Over the Megan…
I love working in early education and care because I am passionate about supporting children’s learning and development, learning alongside them about their interests and seeing where the learning takes us. I am also passionate about providing a safe and nurturing environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all families and children. I am very passionate about respectfully embedding Indigenous culture into learning environments and building trusting relationships with the local community.
My career started off working as a casual and over the years I have developed my skills and knowledge and worked my way up from a lead educator to an assistant director. Throughout my career I have worked with a variety of different positions and they have given me the confidence and knowledge that I use everyday to support the development and learning of children but also the skills in how to build trusting and positive bonds with the families. My biggest moment so far is respectfully embedding Indigenous culture into everyday learning and passing on the knowledge that I have learnt so far to other educators, children and families.
I love AFL footy and support Fremantle so when I’m not at Choklits, and most weekends, I will be either at a game in Melbourne or travelling interstate for a game. I do enjoy reading books and doing arts and craft in my downtime and spending time with family and friends.
The cutest thing a child has ever said to me was when one child came up to give me a hug and said that I looked like a needed a hug and it was really beautiful because right at that moment I needed a hug and he was able to pick up on that feeling and it made me so happy.
