Over to Shuang…
I love working in early education and care because I believe every child is a capable, unique individual who deserves to be nurtured, respected, and celebrated. My personal philosophy centers on creating an inclusive, stimulating environment where children’s interests, strengths, and needs guide their learning journey. I see play as the foundation of holistic development—supporting children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. With a background in engineering, I’m especially passionate about integrating STEM into everyday experiences, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of exploration. I view my role as not only a teacher but also a co-learner, continually growing to meet the evolving needs of children in my care.
Throughout my career, I’ve been most proud of building strong, trusting relationships with children and their families. Watching a child develop confidence, find their voice, and achieve key milestones—knowing I’ve been a part of that journey—is deeply rewarding. One achievement I’m particularly proud of is designing and leading STEM-based learning experiences that sparked genuine excitement and wonder in children. Moments like these remind me why I love what I do.
When I’m not at Choklits, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. As a mum of two, I love getting creative with Lego, diving into arts and crafts, exploring music, and spending time outdoors. Nature walks and hands-on activities at home constantly inspire my work, reminding me of the power of curiosity, imagination, and meaningful connection.
The cutest, funniest, or most beautiful thing a child has ever said to me was when a child proudly handed me a drawing they made “just for me,” carefully explaining every little detail of their masterpiece. It was such a simple but heartfelt moment that reminded me of the deep bonds we form with children—and how meaningful those small acts of connection can be. It truly filled my heart and reaffirmed why I love being an early childhood teacher.
