Over to Talisha…
My personal philosophy revolves around Jean Piaget’s theory where play is the answer to how anything new comes about. I believe that every child is a curious, competent learner who will succeed when placed in a supportive and nurturing environment. I believe early childhood education should focus on being centred around play, as it is through play that children have the ability to explore the world, develop social skills and construct their knowledge. My role as an educator is to create a safe, inclusive space for children where they are able to feel confident to express themselves, take risks and learn through hands on experiences. I love working in early education as I am able to provide children with challenges allowing them to develop holistically and I have the ability to watch the children progress and develop.
Although my career is only just beginning, I am most proud of my ability to provide an environment where children can feel safe and have the ability to thrive.
When I’m not at Choklits I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach and going to concerts. I have a passion for netball which I have played for the past 17 years
My favourite memory about working in education is when children are doing a craft activity, and they draw something and begin to tell a whole story about what they have drawn and the backstory to the drawing…even if its just a line. I love being able to see each child’s individuality and their imaginations.
