Over to Torie…
I have a passion for developing close knitted relationships with children, and love making learning interactive, interesting, and fun. This is steamed from my personal philosophy that in order for children to build on skills academically, socially and emotionally, they need the foundation of building strong positive connections with adults and peers, and ENJOY the process of learning.
At the end of every year when every individual child moves on to either the next room, next milestone of either primary school or high school is a very proud, yet bitter sweet, experience for me. It’s always so amazing to look back and see their individual progression, remembering the good and the bad, the challenges we’ve faced and the achievements we’ve conquered, and the memories we’ve made.
In my spare time I like doing anything and everything that involves outdoor adventures, nature, fitness, health and wellbeing, hiking, camping, my dog Keira, exercise, rock climbing, cooking and eating healthy fructose free food, essential oils, meditation, reading and more. My family is also very important to me, my cultural background is predominantly Russian. I am a first born Australian, my mum and grandma were born in China, my grandpa in Russia, and my dad in Norway. I grew up learning how to read, write and speak Russian, but unfortunately have lost my touch with it all (my grandma never made learning Russian fun) but I’m now trying to get back into the swing of it again!
One of my most memorable moments in child care was when I was working in a Pre-Kindergarten room and during a slightly stressful morning a child asked me if I wanted a hug. During the hug she then said “Mummy coming soon.” As she very gently patted my back! My heart completely melted!
