Philosophy & Framework

our philosophy

Our Philosophy

At Choklits, we believe that learning is everywhere and we are committed to learning from everyone.

It’s the differences we see in each other including our backgrounds, experiences and how we think that is our strength in learning everywhere.

At the core of everything we do at Choklits is our five pillars.

Growth

We believe a growth mindset is essential for lifelong learning and an important trait to demonstrate in everything we do and in everything we teach.

Communication

We are clear and considered in our communication and we focus primarily on how our messages are received to ensure they are understood.

Collaboration

Everyone in our community has the opportunity to appropriately contribute to everything we do and we involve others in our tasks because we believe in the power of many.

Consistency

The clarity in our intentions, behaviours and actions comes from our best practices and leads to our consistency.

Reflection

We consider and review our actions to understand the impact on both ourselves and our community, and we make adjustments to improve all outcomes.

Our aim in the early years is to establish a firm foundation of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary for further learning. Of the greatest importance is to ‘spark the fire’ for a love of lifelong learning.

Victorian Early Years Learning And Development Framework

The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) is a guide for early childhood education and care in Victoria, Australia. The framework is designed to support young children’s learning and development, and provides a common understanding of what children should know, understand and be able to do as they grow and develop.

The VEYLDF focuses on five learning outcomes: identity, communication, community, learning, and well-being. These outcomes are supported by six learning and development domains: physical, social and emotional, language and literacy, mathematical, creative and aesthetic, and ethical and intercultural.
The VEYLDF is based on the latest research and evidence on how young children learn and develop. It is flexible, allowing for individualised approaches to meet the unique needs of each child, and recognizes the important role of families and communities in children’s learning and development. The framework also provides guidance for educators on how to create rich and meaningful learning experiences for young children, and how to assess and evaluate their progress.

Overall, the VEYLDF provides a comprehensive and integrated approach to early childhood education and care, and supports children in their journey to becoming successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and
informed citizens.

The Frameworks And Choklits

Both frameworks described above are minimum required educational standards. Each individual centre implements these standards in different ways which can vary vastly. These differences should form part of your decision making process when choosing early education.

Choklits enhances both frameworks at each service through its extensive curriculum support and additional inclusions like regular incursions and excursions including a weekly sports program, music and movement classes and yoga tuition for everyone, plus library excursions and language classes for our kindergarten children along with a portfolio of all your child’s work which they complete throughout the year.

I would like to thank all the staffs of this Choklits Surrey Hill, especially the Director Qing and Manager Dee, for their support during this tough time for my child and I. I just moved to Box Hill, and I have had multiple tours around all the childcare in Box Hill. But there was not any make me feel satisfied with. As a result, I finally came across Choklits on a strong recommendation from a friend who has worked in the education industry for more than ten years. The environment inside is the cleanest childcare I have ever visited. And the teachers and children in this childcare are very kind. And the apps used for communication between families and educators is also very convenient for parents to know their children’s daily situation at any time. Teachers and the diretor will also communicate with each parent in a timely and patient manner. And they were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about my child in a short time. So my child adapted to this new environment with their help in few days. Also, the distribution ratio between children and teachers is appropriate. Almost every child receives timely care and attention. Especially children with allergies are also highly concerned and cared by Choklits. The Choklits’s food is very good and the facilities here are also very good. Parents are strongly recommended to send their children to this childcare. This is undoubtedly a great support for parents.

What Parents Ask Us Most About Learning Frameworks

Everything you need to know about learning frameworks in child care

What is the Early Years Learning Framework?

The Early Years Learning Framework, or EYLF, is Australia’s guide for early learning. At Choklits, we use it to help plan play, routines and learning experiences that support your child’s identity, wellbeing, confidence, communication and connection with others.

The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, or VEYLDF, is the Victorian guide for children’s learning and development. It helps us support your child’s growth across areas like wellbeing, communication, identity, community and learning.

The EYLF and VEYLDF guide our work, but we add more to your child’s week. Choklits includes rich programs such as music, movement, sport, yoga, incursions, excursions, library visits, language learning for kindergarten children and a portfolio of your child’s work.

Yes. At Choklits, play is a big part of learning. Children build, move, sing, create, talk, explore and solve problems through hands-on experiences. This helps learning feel natural, joyful and meaningful.

We build warm, steady relationships with children and families. Our educators take time to know each child’s needs, interests, culture and routine. This helps children feel safe, included and part of the Choklits community.

We support wellbeing through caring educators, safe spaces, calm routines, healthy food, active play and strong communication with families. We want every child to feel secure, cared for and ready to enjoy their day.

Families are an important part of our program. We share updates, listen to your goals and work with you to support your child. Your child’s portfolio also helps you see their learning, growth and special moments across the year.

Our approach helps children build confidence, independence, social skills, language, curiosity and a love of learning. These skills help children feel more ready for school and more capable in everyday life.
