In keeping with our unwavering commitment to your child’s health and development, our menu is, as always, approved by Nutrition Australia’s Healthy Eating Achievement Program and meticulously aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Every dish served at Choklits is crafted to support not only physical well-being but also foster learning and growth.

Throughout the week, your child will delight in a diverse array of warm, flavourful meals that are both comforting and packed with essential nutrients. Highlights from this season’s offering include:

  • Slow-cooked stews and casseroles, featuring tender meats and a rich medley of winter vegetables, perfect for chilly days.
  • International culinary adventures, such as fragrant curries and vibrant stir-fries, designed to introduce children to diverse cultures and exciting new flavours in an engaging way.
  • Nutrient-dense plant-based options, including lentil-based dishes and wholesome vegetable bakes, promoting variety and healthy eating habits.
  • Balanced combinations of grains, proteins, and fresh produce are consistently featured to meet dietary guidelines and ensure sustained energy for active learning and play.

Each lunch is complemented by a morning and afternoon tea offering, which includes seasonal fresh fruit, wholesome snacks like homemade muffins, and nourishing options such as yoghurt and vegetable sticks with dips. Our dedicated team also ensures that gluten-free, dairy-free, and other dietary needs are always carefully accommodated.

Mealtimes: A Foundation for Learning and Wellbeing

At Choklits, our food program extends beyond mere nutrition; it is an integral part of our educational philosophy. The EYLF underscores the significance of healthy eating in shaping children’s sense of wellbeing, identity, and belonging. Mealtimes at Choklits are cherished opportunities for children to:

  • Cultivate independence and self-help skills.
  • Explore new textures and flavours, broadening their palates.
  • Develop positive associations with healthy food in a supportive environment.
  • Engage in social interactions and shared experiences with their peers.

By interacting with a menu rich in colour, texture, and cultural diversity, children develop healthy habits and a positive relationship with food, invaluable skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

From Our Garden to Your Child’s Plate: The Plant to Plate Program

This winter, we are excited to continue our beloved Plant to Plate program, led by our talented chefs. This hands-on initiative empowers children to forge a direct connection with the food they consume, involving them in every stage of the process, from planting and nurturing to harvesting and preparing fresh produce straight from our centre gardens.

For our younger children, the program focuses on exploration and developing foundational skills. They will learn how to safely handle child-friendly utensils and engage all five senses as they experience the soil, the scent of fresh herbs, and the wonder of plant growth.

Our older children will participate in a full seasonal cycle, helping to plant seeds, care for the garden, pick the produce, and finally, prepare and taste the delicious meals they have helped create. This empowering process nurtures practical life skills and a profound sense of accomplishment.

Crucially, children who are actively involved in growing and preparing their own food are significantly more likely to try new vegetables and dishes. The Plant to Plate program effectively breaks down barriers, transforming “I don’t like that” into “I made that!” This program beautifully supports the EYLF’s emphasis on learning through play, fostering autonomy, and building a strong sense of identity and connection with the world around us, all while having immense fun.

A Season of Nourishment and Joy

We take immense pride in the thoughtful dedication that goes into every plate of food served at Choklits, and we are even prouder to witness the joy and enthusiasm with which the children embrace it. The Winter Menu 2026 exemplifies our ongoing commitment to health, sustainability, and joyful mealtimes.

Thank you for trusting us to provide not only safe and delicious meals, but experiences that help your children learn, grow, and thrive.

Autumn 2026: A Season of Comfort and Care

Dear Choklits families,

The leaves will again start to fall at Choklits which means we’re excited to introduce our Autumn Menu for 2026. This season’s menu focuses on comforting meals, balanced nutrition, and fresh seasonal produce designed to support your child’s health and wellbeing each day.

As always, our menu is approved by Nutrition Australia’s Healthy Eating Achievement Program and aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Every meal is thoughtfully prepared to support not only growing bodies, but also children’s confidence, independence, and enjoyment at mealtimes.

Comforting Meals for Cooler Days

Autumn is a time for warm, nourishing dishes that feel satisfying without being heavy. Across our rotating menu, children will enjoy:

  • Slow-cooked meals with tender meats and seasonal vegetables
  • Pasta and rice dishes rich in hidden vegetables and gentle herbs
  • Hearty plant-based options using lentils, beans, and chickpeas
  • Familiar favourites alongside new flavours to build curiosity

Each dish is designed to provide the right balance of protein, wholegrains, healthy fats, and fresh produce to fuel active days of learning and play.

Seasonal Ingredients at the Centre

Autumn produce brings natural colour and flavour to the plate. Pumpkin, sweet potato, root vegetables, leafy greens, and fresh herbs feature throughout the menu. These ingredients not only taste great, but also provide important nutrients that support immunity and steady energy during the cooler months.

Where possible, we continue to incorporate ingredients from our centre gardens, helping children connect food to its source and understand the journey from soil to plate.

Supporting Healthy Food Relationships

At Choklits, mealtimes are about more than nutrition. They are social, calm, and part of daily learning. Through shared meals, children:

  • Build independence
  • Practise self-help skills
  • Explore new textures and flavours
  • Develop positive associations with healthy food

This aligns closely with the EYLF focus on wellbeing, identity, and confidence.

Inclusive and Thoughtfully Prepared

We remain committed to meeting the individual needs of every child. Dairy-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, and allergen-aware options are prepared with the same care and attention as every other meal. Our kitchens continue to operate as nut-free environments to prioritise safety.

Balanced nutrition, reduced added sugar, and fresh ingredients remain at the heart of our food philosophy.

Welcoming the Season Ahead

Autumn brings a slower pace and a sense of warmth, and our menu reflects that. We are proud of the care our chefs and educators bring to each mealtime experience.
Thank you for trusting us to nourish your children each day. We look forward to a season filled with comforting meals, shared conversations, and happy, healthy children.

Sunshine on the Plate: Introducing the Summer Menu 2026

Dear Choklits families,

Summer is back, and so is a new season of fresh meals for our children. Our Summer Menu 2026 is full of bright flavours, simple ingredients, and plenty of variety to keep children happy, nourished, and ready for busy days of play.

All meals are approved by Nutrition Australia’s Healthy Eating Achievement Program and aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). This means your child’s meals support both their wellbeing and their learning, every day.

A Bright and Balanced Summer Menu

Summer brings a colourful mix of wholesome meals, with plenty of vegetables, fruit, wholegrains, and protein to fuel growing bodies. Highlights from this season include:

  • Fresh pasta, rice and noodle dishes such as Bees Knees honey mustard pasta, beef chow fun, vegetable gnocchi, and Asian-inspired chicken with jasmine rice.
  • Slow-cooked favourites packed with summer vegetables, including Choklits Had a Little Lamb, the Lazy Lamb, Ragout-or-in, and Bangers & Bobs.
  • Seafood options like What a Catch and Fishing for Choklits, helping children explore new flavours from the sea.
  • Tropical-inspired meals such as Tropical Escape, bringing bright flavours with pineapple, rice and colourful vegetables.
  • Nutrient-rich vegetarian meals including Rat-at-ats, All Things Spice chickpea curry, and our popular frittata-me-thingy.

Fresh fruit, yoghurt, and small homemade snacks are available during the day to complement the menu. Our team makes sure children with specific dietary needs have appropriate options prepared just for them.

Simple Ingredients, Fresh Flavours

Summer produce plays a big role in this menu. You’ll see bright vegetables, fresh herbs, and seasonal fruits across lunches, morning teas, and afternoon teas. Many herbs and ingredients are harvested straight from the Choklits gardens, giving children a chance to experience food from garden to plate.

Meals Designed for Learning and Confidence

The EYLF highlights that mealtimes are part of learning, not separate from it. With this menu, children:

  • explore new flavours and textures,
  • build independence as they serve themselves,
  • develop social skills at the table,
  • and learn to talk about food, ingredients, and healthy choices.

By offering familiar meals alongside new tastes, we help children feel safe while developing confidence and curiosity.

Supporting Every Child, Every Day

Children come with different needs and preferences, and the Summer Menu 2026 reflects this. Our chefs prepare vegetarian meals, dairy-free and gluten-free alternatives, and allergen-safe options daily. Mealtimes are inclusive, calm, and predictable, helping every child feel comfortable and supported.

A Season to Enjoy

We’re proud of the care and creativity our chefs bring to every dish. The Summer Menu 2026 gives your children the nourishment they need and the variety they enjoy during these long, warm months.

If you have any questions about our new menu, please visit our Facebook and Instagram pages or stop by the office when you’re next at Choklits.

Choklits Spring Menu 2025

Spring is here, and so is our fresh Spring Menu for 2025! It is packed with light, colourful meals that suit the season and fuel busy little bodies. Our menu is approved by Nutrition Australia’s Healthy Eating Achievement Programme and aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). That means every meal supports children’s health, learning, and a positive relationship with food.

Fresh spring dishes

Across the four weeks, children will enjoy a mix of wholegrains, lean proteins, legumes, dairy, fruit, and plenty of vegetables. Highlights include:

  • Bright pasta and rice dishes such as garden delight pasta with spring vegetables and chickpeas, hearty beef risotto with peas, and springtime beef pasta with tomatoes and basil.
  • Family favourites with a spring twist, including Choklits spring chicken, lamb and rice harvest bowl, spring lamb pasta salad, and spring lamb stir-fry.
  • Seafood choices like tuna seascape salad, spring fish tacos, and seaside linguine with salmon.
  • Tasty plant-based options such as spring vegetable curry and pumpkin and lentil curry, helping children enjoy more legumes and vegetables.

Morning and afternoon teas feature seasonal fruit, yoghurt, homemade breads and bars, dips with crackers or pita, and other simple, nourishing snacks. Gluten-free and dairy-free alternatives are available, and all our services continue to be a nut-free.

A menu that supports learning and wellbeing

The EYLF reminds us that mealtimes are part of learning. Our spring menu encourages children to:

  • build healthy habits through regular exposure to a wide range of flavours and textures,
  • develop independence and social skills at the table,
  • connect with culture and community by trying foods from different cuisines.

Every day offers balance: carbohydrates for energy, protein for growth, dairy or alternatives for bones and teeth, and fruit and vegetables for fibre and vitamins.

From garden to kitchen: our Plant to Plate programme returns

This spring, Chefs Jordan, Lai and Tayani will again lead our Plant to Plate programme, giving children hands-on gardening and cooking experiences.

  • For our younger children, the focus is on early skills: how to hold child-friendly utensils, wash herbs and leaves, tear soft greens, safely mix ingredients, and explore smells, colours and textures.
  • For our older children, it is the full cycle: planting seeds, caring for the garden, spotting when produce is ready, picking, washing, chopping with safety tools, cooking, and tasting the results.

We have learned that children are far more likely to try new foods when they have grown or helped prepare them. This reduces some of the barriers families face at home and turns “I don’t like that” into “I made that”. The programme supports EYLF outcomes around wellbeing, confidence, and connection to the environment, while building real-world skills in a fun, calm setting.

A season of freshness

Thank you for trusting us to nourish your children. Our Spring Menu 2025 brings bright flavours, balanced nutrition, and rich learning – on the plate and in the garden. We look forward to a season of curiosity, tasting, and joyful mealtimes.

If you have any questions about our new menu, please visit our Facebook and Instagram pages or stop by the office when you’re next at Choklits.

Warming Up for Winter: Introducing Our New Seasonal Menu and Plant to Plate Program

As the cooler weather settles in, we’re excited to share our brand new Winter Menu for 2025. Designed to nourish growing bodies and warm little tummies, this season’s menu is filled with hearty, wholesome meals that celebrate fresh, seasonal ingredients.

As always, our menu is approved by Nutrition Australia’s Healthy Eating Achievement Program and carefully aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). That means every dish your child enjoys at Choklits supports not just their health, but their learning and development too.

Warming Winter Dishes

From Mondays to Fridays, your child will enjoy a variety of warm, flavourful meals that are both comforting and packed with goodness. Highlights from this season’s offering include:

  • Slow-cooked stews and curries, like Jamaican Stew and Sri Lankan Fiesta, which are full of flavour and winter vegetables.
  • Global favourites, like Oodles of Noodles and Taco Tuesday, introducing children to new cultures and ingredients in a fun, age-appropriate way.
  • Nutrient-rich vegetarian meals, such as Lentil SURPRISE and Tangy Tofu Stir-Fry, that promote variety and plant-based eating.
  • Balanced combinations of grains, proteins, and vegetables featured throughout every week to meet dietary guidelines and keep your child energised throughout their day.

Every lunch is complemented by a morning and afternoon tea offering, including seasonal fresh fruit, wholesome snacks like homemade oat bars, and nourishing options such as yoghurt, muffins, and vegetable dips. Our team also ensures that gluten-free, dairy-free, and other dietary needs are always accommodated.

A Menu That Supports Learning and Wellbeing

Our food program goes beyond nutrition. The EYLF highlights the importance of healthy eating in shaping children’s sense of wellbeing, identity, and belonging. At Choklits, mealtimes are a chance to build independence, try new things, and enjoy shared experiences with peers.

By engaging with a menu rich in colour, texture, and cultural variety, children also develop healthy habits and a positive relationship with food—skills that will benefit them for life.

From Garden to Kitchen: Our Plant to Plate Program Returns

This winter, we’re also delighted to share that Chefs Jordan, Lai, and Tayani will once again be leading our much-loved Plant to Plate programme at Choklits.

This hands-on initiative helps children build a direct connection with the food they eat by involving them in every step of the process—from planting and nurturing to harvesting and preparing vegetables straight from our centre gardens.

For our younger children, the experience is all about exploration and building foundational skills. They’ll practise how to safely hold and use child-friendly utensils, and engage all five senses as they feel soil, smell fresh leaves, and observe how plants grow.

For older children, the programme becomes a full seasonal cycle. They’ll help to plant seeds, care for the garden, pick the produce, and finally, prepare and taste the meals they’ve helped bring to life. It’s an empowering process that supports both practical life skills and a sense of accomplishment.

Importantly, children who are involved in growing and preparing their own food are much more likely to try new vegetables and dishes. For many parents, getting children to try new or unfamiliar foods at home can be a daily challenge. The Plant to Plate programme helps to break down these barriers—children are far more open to tasting something they’ve grown or helped to cook themselves. That sense of pride and ownership can turn “I don’t like that” into “I made that!”

This programme supports the EYLF’s focus on learning through play, developing autonomy, and building a strong sense of identity and connection with the world around us—all while having a whole lot of fun.

A Season of Nourishment

We’re proud of the thoughtful work that goes into every plate of food served at Choklits, and we’re even prouder to see how much the children enjoy it. The Winter Menu 2025 reflects our continued commitment to health, sustainability, and joyful mealtimes.

Thank you for trusting us to provide not only safe and delicious meals, but experiences that help your children learn, grow, and thrive.

If you have any questions on our new menu please head to our Facebook and Instagram pages or pop in and see us when you’re next at the service.

Choklits Spring Menu 2024

At Choklits, our commitment to nurturing both the minds and bodies of your little learners remains at the heart of everything we do. This spring, we’re excited to introduce our new menu which incorporates herbs and vegetables grown by our very own Choklits children!

Seasonal, Fresh, and Homegrown

Spring in Australia offers many fresh produce options, and this year, our menu takes full advantage of these seasonal delights. From succulent chicken and fresh fish to crisp vegetables and ripe fruits, we source high-quality ingredients that are as tasty as they are beneficial. What makes this year’s menu even more special is the inclusion of herbs and vegetables grown right here at Choklits! Our little gardeners have been busy tending to their plants, and now they get to enjoy the fruits (and veggies) of their labour, knowing that they played a part in creating their meals.

Dietary Diversity

Variety is the key to a balanced diet, and our four-week rotating menu ensures that children experience a range of food groups, including lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. By growing some of our own produce, children not only learn about different foods but also develop an appreciation for where their food comes from.

Nutrient-Focused

Our menu is designed with the nutrient needs of growing children in mind. Take, for example, our “Lamb and Rice Harvest Bowl.” This dish features tender diced lamb paired with fluffy rice and roasted spring vegetables, some of which were grown right here at Choklits. It’s a wonderful source of protein, fibre, and essential nutrients, making it a fully balanced meal perfect for our little learners.

Another highlight is our “Springtime Beef Pasta,” a flavourful blend of slow-cooked beef, fresh tomatoes, basil, and wholegrain pasta. With herbs like basil grown by the children, this dish not only provides essential proteins and carbohydrates but also gives them a taste of their own hard work.

Snacks are equally nutritious and thoughtfully prepared. From wholegrain rice cakes with cheese and sultanas to freshly baked oat and apple bars, each option is packed with natural goodness. Our spring menu ensures that every bite contributes to your child’s growth and well-being.

Culturally Inclusive and Educational

Our menu is a celebration of global cuisine, introducing children to diverse tastes and textures. Dishes like the “Jamaican Stew” and “Sri Lankan Curry” not only nourish but also educate, broadening their culinary horizons and fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity. By involving children in growing some of the ingredients, we add another layer of learning, connecting them to the food they eat and the cultures it comes from.

Catering to Special Needs

At Choklits, we understand that some children have unique dietary needs. That’s why we continue to offer gluten-free and dairy-free alternatives, as well as catering to other specific requirements upon request. We maintain a nut-free environment to ensure the safety of all children, including those with allergies. We also have a vegetarian option available for every meal.

No Added Sugars and No Nuts

We remain committed to serving food that’s naturally sweet and nutritious. We avoid added sugars in all our recipes, focusing instead on the natural sweetness of fresh fruits. And, as always, our kitchen is a nut-free zone to keep all our little ones safe.

Approved By Nutrition Australia

Parents can feel confident knowing our menu adheres to and has been endorsed by Nutrition Australia’s guidelines for child care services. Each meal is carefully crafted to provide the right balance of nutrients necessary for your child’s physical and cognitive development.

This year’s spring menu is more than just a collection of meals; it’s a reflection of our dedication to holistic child development and our belief in the power of hands-on learning. Here’s to a season of growth, health, and delicious, homegrown eating!

Winter has arrived Choklits Families and with the new season comes, as always, a new menu!! A vital part of this mission is ensuring the children in our care receive nutritious, balanced, and delicious meals. Therefore, we are delighted to present our Winter Menu for 2024, which retains all the wonderful aspects of last year’s offerings, with some exciting enhancements!

First and foremost, our menu has been thoughtfully designed by our dedicated chefs in collaboration with key members of our leadership team. This year, we continue to uphold the high standards set previously, with our menu once again being approved by Nutrition Australia. This prestigious accreditation underscores our commitment to your child’s health and well-being, adhering to the highest nutritional standards.

For parents, this approval provides peace of mind knowing your child’s dietary needs are met with care and precision. Each meal is crafted to be enjoyable, balanced, varied, and suitable for your child’s age, cultural background, and specific dietary requirements. We offer dairy and gluten-free options and are committed to reducing added sugar in our recipes, ensuring our menu caters to every child’s dietary needs.

The benefits of a nutritious diet for children are immeasurable. A healthy diet promotes optimal growth and development, supports immune function, and lays the foundation for lifelong healthy eating habits.

For instance, on Monday of Week 2, we will serve a lunch of Sri Lankan Chicken Curry with Rice. This meal is rich in protein from the chicken, essential for growth and development, while the rice provides complex carbohydrates for sustained energy. It’s a balanced meal that introduces children to diverse flavours.

In the afternoons, we offer Wholegrain Rice Cakes with Cheese and Sultanas as a nutrient-dense snack. Whole grains are an excellent source of fibre, supporting digestive health, while the cheese provides calcium for strong bones. The sultanas add natural sweetness and essential vitamins and minerals.

Another highlight is the Choklits Superfood Bowl, available for lunch on Monday of Week 4. Featuring a base of quinoa, chickpea, and rice, this nutrient-packed meal offers high fiber and protein. Accompanied by grilled chicken strips, it provides lean protein and vital vitamins like B12.

With every meal and snack, we are not just feeding your children; we are nourishing them, introducing them to the world of food, and fostering a healthy relationship with eating. We believe a well-fed child is a happy, engaged, and successful learner!

If you have any questions about our new menu, please visit our Facebook and Instagram pages or come see us at the centre.

From the vibrant veggies in “Farmers Feast” to the fresh fruits in our morning and afternoon tea platters, we ensure your child enjoys the best of what the season has to offer.

Catering to Every Little One

We understand that dietary needs can vary widely, especially in children under 5. That’s why we offer gluten-free options, dairy alternatives, and ensure that our meals are as free from added sugars. And with a nut-free policy, we prioritise safety alongside nutrition and taste. We cater for all allergies!

Our Chefs: The Heart of Choklits’ Kitchen

None of this would be possible without our passionate chefs. Their expertise not only in cooking but in crafting meals that support children’s nutrition contribute to balanced and healthy options for all Choklits Children. Every dish served is a product of their knowledge, creativity, and dedication to your child’s health and happiness.

As we step into autumn, we invite your family to embrace the new season with us. With our nutritionally balanced and Nutrition Australia-approved menu, your child is set for a season of delicious meals, joyful learning, and healthy growth.

Please keep an eye out for updates on our Facebook and Instagram pages too!
