Stephanie has worked in early learning for 2 years and is an Educator at Croydon. She holds a Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care.

I love working in early education and care because I have the opportunity to support children as they grow, learn, and discover the world around them. I enjoy being part of their early years, where every experience, interaction, and moment of curiosity helps shape their confidence, independence, and sense of belonging. I find it incredibly rewarding to watch children develop new skills, share their ideas, build friendships, and celebrate their own achievements.
A big part of my passion comes from helping children learn new ways to communicate and express themselves. I especially enjoy teaching children Auslan and introducing them to the importance of inclusion and different forms of communication. Watching children use Auslan to connect with others, share their thoughts, and support their friends is something I find very meaningful. I believe teaching children that everyone communicates in different ways helps create a more accepting, respectful, and understanding environment.
Throughout my career I’ve been most proud of the meaningful connections I have built with children and the impact I have been able to have on their learning and confidence. One of the moments that makes me the proudest is seeing children become excited and engaged when learning new things, especially when it comes to Auslan. Watching children remember signs, use them during their everyday interactions, and proudly show me their favourite. Auslan signs is incredibly rewarding. It shows me that they are not only learning a new skill but also developing confidence in their ability to communicate and connect with others.
When I’m not at Choklits I enjoy staying active and making the most of my time outside of work. I love going for runs and taking part in running activities, as it helps me stay motivated, clear my mind, and enjoy some time outdoors. Running has become something I really enjoy and it’s a great way for me to challenge myself and set personal goals.
The cutest, funniest or most beautiful thing a child has ever said to me was when a child excitedly called out, “Steph Steph, look at me!!” and then proudly showed me their Auslan sign for “thanks” followed by a big “cheese!” smile. This moment truly made my heart melt because it showed me how much the children enjoy learning and how proud they are to share what they know. Seeing them remember their signs and want to show everyone around them is such a special feeling.
