Hello families,
We’re back for our first full week after the Easter break and the Anzac Day long weekends! We have been so fortunate with the fantastic weather but this week we definitely started to feel the true nature of the season! That time of year is here again, so it’s time to unpack those big jackets, gloves, and cosy hats to keep warm during our outdoor adventures. Flu season is also approaching so why not book in with Dr. Chan for your child’s flu vaccination.
Thingle Toodle…
We had a great time learning about road safety with Thingle Toodle. Thingle Toodle is a road safety mascot used in Victoria, Australia, to educate young children about road safety. He visits kindergartens and other early childhood settings to teach children important concepts like holding hands when crossing the road, stopping to listen and look before crossing, and using child car seats correctly.
Thingle Toodle’s role is to make road safety fun and engaging for young children, helping them to learn and remember these crucial safety tips. We were very grateful to receive educational materials, learn lots of songs, and play some games all designed to reinforce key road safety messages!
Mothers Day celebrations…
Coming up is our Mothers Day afternoon tea on the 9th of May! This will be starting at 3:00pm and finishing at 4:00pm. We will be providing the rooms with some special treats for our family and friends. Feel free to bring any grandparents, friends and family along for the afternoon tea celebration! We are so excited to announce that Asten will also be creating some amazing Messy Play set ups for our children and families to engage with. These kinds of experiences are not just messy fun, they’re powerful learning opportunities that support early science concepts, language development, and sensory regulation. Needless to say, we get super messy and have an absolute blast!
Sustainable Development Research Initiative…
We are always searching for new ways of looking at all different types of ‘life on land’. Not only do we research wildlife and different species of animals. We also took time on World Earth Day to talk and learn about plant life. We learnt ways of planting, watering and nurturing life in the garden beds around our Choklits service. We will continue to find new ways of contributing to this research goal and where we end up at the end of the month. To stay up to date with our progress, please visit our display wall in the hallway or on our socials for more photos and videos.
The Life on Land goal, part of the Sustainable Development Goals, aims to protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. It focuses on preventing deforestation, conserving biodiversity, combating desertification, and ensuring the sustainable management of forests and natural habitats to support all life on Earth.
Here are some key areas that make the foundation of this focus:
- Promoting Green Spaces and Biodiversity
- Teaching Environmental Responsibility
- Reducing Environmental Impact
- Engaging with Families and the Community
