Over to Anh…
I love working in early education and care because I had two reasons for choosing to study a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and work with children. Firstly, I worked with children for two years in my home country before moving to Australia with my husband. Secondly, I have four children of my own. I know that looking after children is not easy, so when we decided to move to Australia, working with children allowed me to support both my career and my family.
Throughout my career, I’ve been most proud of the love and care I have for all children. I carefully observe children and try to interact with them so I can better understand them. I remember when I worked at Choklits Surrey Hills, there was a child named Joshsure who was very quiet. He wasn’t happy when his mum picked him up and wouldn’t cuddle her when she tried to hug him. His mum told me, with tears in her eyes, that he thought she didn’t love him. She explained that she had to leave for work early every day and came home late because she worked very hard to support their family. As a migrant myself, I understood how difficult that situation was. Whenever I had the chance to spend time with Joshsure, I talked to him about his mum’s love. I explained that she worked hard because she loved him and wanted to provide food, clothes, toys, and everything he needed. He began sharing stories about his mum working in the city, and we talked whenever we had time together. One day, when I was working late at the centre, I saw Joshsure run to his mum, give her a cuddle, and happily tell her about his day. Seeing both Joshsure and his mum smiling made me feel so warm and reminded me why I love what I do.
When I’m not at Choklits, I enjoy cooking Vietnamese food and sewing clothes.
The cutest thing a child has ever done was in the Apple Room (baby room) when we were playing hide-and-seek. One little child hid by covering only her face, thinking nobody could see her. It was such a funny and beautiful moment.
