Grace has worked in early learning for 8 years and is an Educator at Choklits in Croydon. She holds a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

As a mother of two children, I deeply understand how precious and short the early years are. That is why I truly enjoy being with young children. They are innocent, lovely, and full of energy. Every day I spend with them gives me new strength and fills me with love and warmth. Working in early childhood education gives me the opportunity to support children’s growth and witness their progress, which makes me feel very happy and fulfilled.
I have been working in early childhood education for eight years, and I still truly love this profession. Many children enjoy being with me and even call me “Grace Mama”. Some of the children I cared for in my last centre are now in high school, but they still ask their parents to send me photos and share updates about their lives.
When I occasionally see them, they still give me a hug and call me “Grace Mama”. These moments make me feel very proud, touched, and grateful. They remind me that the love and care we give children can stay with them for many years.
I also feel very grateful that I have been able to maintain good relationships with their families. It is such a beautiful and meaningful part of my work.
I have a wide range of interests. I teach Chinese at a community school, and I really enjoy supporting children’s learning and growth, including my own children. In my free time, I like reading, watching movies, cooking, looking after my home, spending time with animals, gardening, and chatting with friends. These simple things bring me happiness and help me stay positive, caring, and connected with the people around me.
There are so many warm and beautiful things children have said to me. One special moment happened last week in the Kinder room, when Annie and Evan asked me, “Grace, can you tell us what animal you like?” I told them that I had adopted a little cat and that she was very cute. They asked me to draw my cat for them. After they saw my drawing, they said, “Can we come home with you? We like your cat, and we like you too.” I felt very touched and warm in my heart. I jokingly said, “That’s great! You can come home with me after kinder today.” Evan then said, “I need to ask my mum first. Can you come to our house?” I will also ask my mum.”I replied. This moment made me feel very happy and emotional. It was not only sweet and funny, but it also showed that the children understand the importance of asking their parents for permission. They also communicated politely and respectfully, while checking how I felt about the situation. I felt very proud of them.
