Happy Friday Families,
It’s been another short week but we made the most of every moment with plenty of fun and learning along the way. We hope you all had a lovely Easter long weekend and are looking forward to another break for ANZAC Day. We’re excited to return next week for a full five-day week, ready to dive back into all the great things we have planned!
Earth Day…
We kicked off our week on Tuesday by celebrating World Earth Day! It was a fantastic opportunity to teach the children about the importance of caring for our planet and the little ways we can all make a difference. The day was filled with hands-on learning and creativity, as we explored themes like recycling, nature, and sustainability.
We got crafty with a range of Earth Day inspired activities, and a definite highlight was the beautiful globe we painted together with the Pre Kinders. The children loved getting involved, and it sparked some great conversations about the world around us and how we can help protect it.
Bush Kinder…
On Wednesday, our Kinder 4s set off for another exciting Bush Kinder adventure, and the weather could not have been more perfect! As usual, they hopped on the local bus for the short ride up the road before walking the rest of the way to Warrien Reserve. Once there, the children eagerly explored the natural surroundings, collected sticks for a special project back at Choklits, and enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch lovingly prepared by our chef, Tayani. The day wrapped up with playtime on the park playground. Bush Kinder continues to be a highlight of our week and it’s a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect with nature, spark their curiosity, and build confidence in the great outdoors.
ANZAC Day…
This week, we commemorated ANZAC Day on Thursday with a range of meaningful activities designed to help the children understand the significance of this important day. Together, we baked traditional ANZAC biscuits, learning about their historical connection to the soldiers and how they became a symbol of care and remembrance. Throughout the day, we engaged in creative art projects inspired by poppies and Australian symbols. These moments allowed us to start conversations about gratitude, remembrance, and the value of peace in a way that was both thoughtful and accessible to young minds.
Easter Market…
Last week, we held our Easter Market to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, and we were absolutely blown away by the support from our wonderful community. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who came along, purchased the children’s handmade goodies, and generously donated to such a meaningful cause. Thanks to your kindness and support, we raised an incredible $812! (which Jade and Matt are so generously matching) We are so grateful for your generosity and proud to be part of a community that comes together to make a difference.
Educator spotlight…
This week, we want to give a special shoutout to Asten, our incredible Mentoring and Leadership Manager. Asten has taken on so much responsibility this year, wearing many hats each and every day and doing it all with so much dedication and heart.
In particular, we want to recognise her amazing work on our Easter Market. The market was Asten’s brilliant idea, and from the very beginning, she led the charge – collaborating with every room, supporting the children’s creations, and bringing the whole event to life. Her hard work and vision helped turn a simple idea into something truly special. We are so proud of Asten and deeply grateful for everything she does. Her passion, leadership, and care never go unnoticed and is never taken for granted. Thank you, Asten!
Did you know…
That we have a new Recycled Arts Materials Station in the Kinder Hallway? We would love any donations of items such as cardboard, containers, lids from jars, and any other recyclable materials that can inspire our children’s creativity. These materials will be used for a variety of exciting art projects, helping the children to engage in hands-on, imaginative activities while learning about sustainability. If you have any recyclable materials lying around that could be repurposed for art, we would be thrilled to give them a second life in our creative space.
Our favourite social post…
This week, we shared a fun ‘This or That: Childcare Edition’ reel on our Instagram, giving you a little peek into the personalities of some of our amazing staff! It’s a lighthearted way to get to know the team a bit better! Watch it here!
Just a reminder to stay connected and follow us on social media for the latest updates on everything happening at our service! You can find us on Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram (@choklitsearlylearning).
Next week…
We’ve got some exciting things happening next Thursday!
Our Kinder 4s will be heading out on another Bush Kinder adventure, so please make sure they come dressed for the outdoors. Closed-toed shoes and weather appropriate clothing are a must for a safe and comfortable experience.
Meanwhile, our Kinder 3s will be welcoming a special visit from Jumpstart Joeys, a fun and engaging literacy program designed to spark a love for reading and language. We can’t wait to see all the learning and laughter these experiences will bring!
Don’t forget…
We want to take a moment to remind families that we are always accepting donations for our Community Corner. Whether it’s snacks, nappies, clothes, or any other useful items, all donations are deeply appreciated. These contributions help us support families in our Choklits community and ensure that everyone has what they need. If you have anything you’d like to donate, please feel free to drop it off at the front desk.
We’d love your help to help us improve at Choklits…
