Hello Families,
Welcome back to our weekly updates, and our very first update for 2025! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and are feeling well and truly settled back into your routines. It’s been a fantastic start to 2025, and we’re excited to share all the fun and learning that’s already been happening at Choklits Croydon.
This week kicked off with our first Bush Kinder adventure of the year. Our new Kinder 4 group was absolutely buzzing with excitement as they boarded the bus and set off to explore the reserve. It’s always so rewarding to see their curiosity and enthusiasm for the outdoors! We are incredibly proud of how well the children listened, followed instructions, and embraced the adventure. Their excitement was infectious, and we can’t wait for more Bush Kinder adventures to come this year.
As Monday and Tuesday were incredibly hot, we made the most of it with lots of water play, both inside and out, to keep everyone cool and refreshed. We absolutely love how water play helps the children stay cool while also having a blast!
On Wednesday morning, we were thrilled to welcome Gladesville Primary School for a special Storytime session with some of their Grade 6 students and the Principal. It was a fantastic opportunity for our children to engage with older students, listen to stories, and build connections between our community and the school. We are always so grateful for these opportunities to broaden our children’s experiences and foster a sense of belonging.
Later on Wednesday, we had Messy Play with Asten! This week, our theme was Under the Sea, and the children had the chance to explore a variety of textures. It was messy, it was fun, and it was a wonderful way for the children to engage their senses while developing fine motor skills. A big thank you to Asten for always making messy play such a joy for everyone!
As we settle back into routine, our incursions and activities are also back in full swing! Here’s what we’ve got planned for the week ahead:
- Sustainability on Mondays
- Yoga and Music on Tuesdays
- Sport on Wednesdays
- Dance and Gardening on Thursdays
- AUSLAN and Italian on Fridays
Each of these activities supports the development of different skills and interests, from physical coordination and creativity to language and cultural exploration. Our weeks are packed full of enriching, fun, and engaging experiences that keep our little learners active and inspired!
We are beyond excited for all that 2025 has in store, and we can’t wait to share every moment with our wonderful families. Thank you for being a part of the Choklits community, and we look forward to all the adventures, growth, and learning that lie ahead!
Educator Spotlight…Â
This week, we want to take a moment to shine a light on Asten. Asten has always been an outstanding mentor, and this year, she has stepped into her new role as Mentoring and Leadership Manager with absolute grace and dedication.
In her new position, Asten has already made such a positive impact, providing guidance and support to our staff, helping them grow in their roles, and fostering a strong, collaborative team culture. Her ability to mentor and inspire has always been one of her greatest strengths, and now, she’s taking it to the next level.Â
Asten also runs messy play across all three of our services. From sensory bins and creative play to messy adventures that spark imagination, Asten brings so much joy and learning to our children through hands on, messy play experiences. Her passion for fostering creativity and exploration shines through in everything she does.
As if that wasn’t enough, Asten also serves as our Wellbeing Officer, making sure that our team is supported and cared for, both professionally and personally. She is always there to listen, offer advice, and ensure that everyone has the resources they need to thrive.
Asten truly does it all! Her hard work, dedication, and unwavering positivity make her an invaluable asset to the Choklits family, and we couldn’t be more grateful for everything that she does.
