I love working in early education and care because it allows me to make a real difference in the early years of a child’s life, the stage where curiosity, imagination, and confidence begin to take shape. I find great joy in seeing children explore new ideas, express themselves, and grow in their own unique ways. Every day brings something new to learn, both for the children and for me as an educator.
My personal philosophy is based on the belief that children are capable, confident, and active participants in their learning journey. I see my role as a guide who nurtures their curiosity and helps them develop independence, empathy, and resilience through play-based learning experiences. I value creating an environment that is warm, inclusive, and reflective of each child’s individuality, where they feel safe to take risks, make decisions, and build meaningful relationships.
I also believe that strong partnerships with families are essential in supporting a child’s overall development. By working together, we can create a sense of belonging and continuity between home and the early learning environment, ensuring each child feels seen, heard, and supported.
For me, working in early education is not just a career, it’s a passion. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness the small moments of growth and discovery that shape a child’s understanding of the world. I feel privileged to be part of those moments and to contribute to building strong, confident learners for the future.
Throughout my career I’ve been most proud of the personal and professional growth I’ve achieved while pursuing my passion for early childhood education. One of my proudest milestones has been successfully completing my Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education, a journey that deepened my understanding of how children learn, think, and express themselves. It also strengthened my confidence as an educator and helped me connect theory with meaningful, real-world teaching practices.
I’m particularly proud of the relationships I’ve built with children and families throughout my placements and work experience. Seeing children feel comfortable, safe, and excited to learn in my care is incredibly rewarding. I take pride in creating inclusive environments where every child’s voice is valued and where they can develop independence and curiosity through play-based learning.
Another proud moment for me has been transitioning into my role as an Early Childhood Teacher at Choklits Croydon. This role represents not just a career achievement, but a meaningful opportunity to put my values and philosophy into practice every day. I’m proud to work alongside a passionate team that shares a commitment to providing high-quality education and care for children.
What gives me the most pride, though, are the small everyday moments, when a child achieves something new, expresses their creativity, or simply smiles because they feel seen and supported. Those moments remind me why I chose this profession and continue to inspire me to grow as an educator.
When I’m not at Choklits, I enjoy travelling and exploring new places around Australia. I love discovering different suburbs, local cafes, and hidden spots that each area has to offer. Whether it’s a quiet coastal town, a scenic mountain trail, or a vibrant city market, I enjoy experiencing new environments and meeting people from all walks of life.
Camping and spending time outdoors are also things I really enjoy. Being close to nature helps me relax and recharge, and I find it’s a great way to slow down and appreciate simple moments. I like going on road trips with friends, setting up a tent under the stars, and enjoying the peace that comes with being surrounded by nature.
When I’m at home, I enjoy cooking, listening to music, and spending time with friends. I also love learning new things—whether it’s reading about education, exploring creative activities, or trying something different that adds to my personal growth.
Exploring, travelling, and connecting with new experiences inspire me both personally and professionally. They remind me of the importance of curiosity and discovery, values that I bring into my teaching every day.
The cutest, funniest or most beautiful thing a child has ever said to me was when H looked up at me one afternoon and said, “You’re the best teacher because you play soccer with me!” It was such a simple and sweet moment, but it meant a lot to me. It reminded me that children value the time we spend being truly present with them, joining in their play, sharing their interests, and having fun together.
That comment made me realise how powerful small interactions can be in building trust and connection. For children, play isn’t just fun, it’s how they learn, express themselves, and form relationships. Knowing that something as simple as kicking a ball together made him feel happy and seen really touched my heart.
Moments like these make my role as an educator so meaningful. They remind me that it’s the laughter, shared experiences, and genuine connections that children remember most.
