Choklits Ringwood Friday Update March 28th

Hello families,

What an incredible week we have had at Choklits Ringwood! The absolute highlight for our children was definitely the huge digger our construction team is using to dig a massive hole in our yard. The excitement was off the charts!

This week, while collecting the chicken’s eggs, we stumbled upon an enormous one, surely a ‘’double yolke’’ egg! How lucky are we? The joy on the children’s face was priceless.

Highlights from the week…

Nursery: In our Nursery room, we are placing a strong emphasis on the importance of quality time and building deeper connections with our young children. At this stage in their development, relationships are absolutely paramount. The bonds formed during these early years are crucial for babies to develop trust and confidence, laying the foundation for their emotional, social, and cognitive growth.By creating a warm, responsive, and nurturing environment, we ensure that each child feels valued and supported. These early relationships help children develop a secure sense of self and an understanding of the world around them. As we engage with them through meaningful interactions, we are not just meeting their immediate needs; we are fostering a sense of belonging and security that will help them thrive in all aspects of life. Building strong relationships with our youngest learners is the key to unlocking their potential, as these early connections profoundly shape their emotional well-being and future success.

Pre-Toddlers: Our pre-toddler children continued their scientific exploration this week, and the experiment took a wonderfully gooey turn! They created oobleck by mixing cornstarch, water, and paint to form this fascinating, squishy substance. The children had a blast using their hands and animal figures to explore the unique texture, fully immersing themselves in the sensory experience. It was a fun and messy adventure that sparked their curiosity and creativity!

Toddlers: The toddlers had a wonderfully busy week, diving into the world of colours while also engaging in fun nature play activities. One of the standout moments of the week was a cool STEM activity where the children explored primary and secondary colours in a hands-on and engaging way. The best part? The activity was mess-free! Using zip lock bags and Easter egg templates, the children mixed and experimented with colours, watching as new shades emerged right before their eyes. It was a perfect blend of creativity and learning, giving them a deeper understanding of colour theory while keeping things tidy and fun! This activity sparked excitement and curiosity, and it was a joy to see the toddlers so engrossed in their colourful discoveries.

Kinder 3: The Kinder 3 class embarked on an exciting new quest this week: exploring what they want to become when they grow up. They delved into learning about important roles in our community, such as doctors, police officers, pilots, scientists, nurses, surgeons, and firefighters. As they discovered the vital contributions these professionals make to keeping our community safe, healthy, and functioning, it was inspiring to watch their curiosity blossom. The children began to grasp how each role plays a crucial part in supporting the well-being of others, and their growing understanding of these careers sparked some truly thoughtful questions and conversations. It was incredible to see them connect the dots between these professions and their own aspirations for the future!

Kinder 4: To support the social and emotional development of our Kinder 4 children, we introduced them to Friendology, a program designed to foster meaningful discussions. This program provides children with a shared language to better express themselves and understand their friendships. Additionally, the Friendology curriculum equips them with strategies and vocabulary to build healthy relationships. This week, the children explored ‘The Friend-o-Cycle’, a concept designed to deepen their understanding of friendship. To further engage them, we asked each child to share what friendship means to them. Their responses were heartwarming, many highlighted the importance of kindness, while others fondly mentioned their friends by name, sharing why they love spending time with them. It was truly touching to witness their thoughtful reflections!

Educator spotlight…

A big shout-out to Binda, our 3-year-old Kinder teacher, who has built exceptional relationships with both the children and their families. Binda works collaboratively with families and colleagues, fostering strong connections with our Pillars, such as communication and collaboration. She is also delivering an outstanding program that supports children’s social and emotional development, helping them grow more confident and happier every day.
