Hello families,
Another wonderful week at Choklits Ringwood with lots of exciting changes happening. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, with sunny skies and warm breeze, making the perfect backdrop for a week full of fun and learning. Our children had a fabulous time getting their photo taken, cooking with Jordan, and exploring emotions through hands- on activities. And to top it off, our renovations have officially kicked off this week. We are thrilled with the progress and cannot wait to see all the new things coming to our service. It is an exciting time for everyone here!
Exciting News…
As many of you may have noticed, we have added a new desk at the front! This is the first step in our goal to create a more welcoming and inviting space for everyone. We’re excited about this change, and there are even more wonderful updates on the way!
Highlights from the week…
Nursery: Our Nursery children had a busy week, celebrating their friend’s first birthday by making healthy cupcakes with Chef Jordan. In addition, the children were involved in a dramatic play activity exploring real cameras and toy cameras. Pretending to be a photographer. Role play activities like this offer so many benefits for young children, it encourages creativity, helps develop problem solving skills, and boots social and emotional growth.
Pre-Toddlers: The Pre-Toddler children engaged in a hands-on science experiment, using droppers to add coloured water into baby oil. Our little learners were fascinated as they observed how the oil and the water did not mix. Engaging in hands-on scientific activities fosters a love for learning, sparks curiosity and encourages critical thinking, laying the foundation for future exploration in the sciences.
Toddlers: Our little learners in the toddlers’ room had a busy and engaging week learning about the importance of sustainable practices. One exciting activity involved collecting fruit and veggies scraps to take to our pigs at the Chesterfield Farm, teaching them about waste reduction and animal care. In addition, to support children’s physical development, the toddlers had a blast navigating a fun and challenging obstacle course, which helped enhance their balance and coordination skills.
Kinder 3: The kinder 3 children are exploring emotions in a creative and artistic way through ‘My Feeling Faces!’ Using paper plates. They drew various facial expressions to represent different emotions, which helped them understand how each feeling is an important part of their identity. By expressing their emotions through these faces, they gained confidence in articulating how they felt. These activities are crucial for healthy social-emotional development, as they support children in navigating the world with kindness, understanding and emotional awareness. We take great joy in empowering our little learners to recognise and express their emotions.
Kinder 4: Our Kinder 4 children are making great strides in school readiness and literacy skills as they continue to explore more letters of the alphabet. This week, the focus was on the letter ‘A’. In addition, Sophie, our Auslan teacher, has been working closely with the children to teach them about colours and fruit, helping them to expand their knowledge through engaging activities. The children also were introduced to the ‘Kindness Jar’, a wonderful initiative that encourages positive behaviour and emotional growth.
A special moment this week was when our Kinder 4 children received their orange t-shirts. These t-shirts are presented to our senior Kinder group who will be heading to school next year. It was a proud milestone, and the children couldn’t have been more excited to celebrate their achievements.
Educator spotlight…
A massive shout-out to Tina Z in the nursery room. She is such an important member of the team and the service. You will often find her singing to the children, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. Tina went above and beyond by helping organise a beautiful set up for the Persian New Year, and she stepped out of the conform zone to share the significance of the Nowruz celebration with us. Her efforts and dedication truly make a difference in our Choklits community.
