Over to Yiyi…
I love working in early education and care because I believe the early years are the foundation for lifelong learning, and I’m passionate about creating safe, inclusive, and engaging environments where children feel a strong sense of belonging. My personal philosophy is shaped by a respect for each child’s unique strengths, cultural background, and learning journey. I see myself as a facilitator who supports children’s growth through play, meaningful relationships, and intentional teaching, drawing on both theory and real-world experience to nurture confident, capable learners.
Throughout my career I’ve been most proud of the strong, trusting relationships I’ve built with children and their families across a range of age groups. Having the opportunity to work with infants through to preschool-aged children has given me a well-rounded understanding of their developmental needs and learning styles. I’m particularly proud of how I’ve supported children’s transitions, helped families feel connected and confident, and contributed to inclusive environments where every child feels seen, safe, and supported.
When I’m not at Choklits I enjoy spending quality time with my family, exploring Melbourne’s local parks, and trying new recipes at home. I also love engaging in mindfulness activities like yoga, which I’ve enjoyed both personally and through our centre’s family sessions. Learning new languages and cultural practices is something I’m passionate about, as it helps me stay connected to diverse communities and continually grow both personally and professionally.
The cutest, funniest or most beautiful thing a child has ever said to me was when a few children from the Kinder and Toddler rooms shouted my name just to show me their paintings or sports moves, saying, “Look at me! Are you proud of me?” It melted my heart every time. They would also share stories about their families and eagerly listen when I shared mine, like little friends. One child once said, “You’re my best friend now,” and it made me feel so deeply valued. Moments like these remind me why I love what I do — being someone they trust, look up to, and share joy with is truly special.
